Students are given some brief information about password security (choosing a secure password) before being asked to rank 5 passwords (most to least secure). Slide 1 includes a spinning wheel that can be stopped to choose the plenary for the lesson. There are seven different outcomes so it could be used regularly and routinely in lessons to get students to reflect on their learning, all fully resourced where required. An introduction to organisation/organization charts. This resource includes a lesson PowerPoint (full lesson), three differentiated activities with increasing difficulty and a lesson review (exit note). Teachers could either give students the sheet to draw all three charts or give students different examples to complete based on ability, which is why there are different versions. Teachers may also wish to get students to create the charts themselves OR could use the templates provided - or lower ability students could be provided with the templates. All four averages lessons are listed separately OR as one short unit of work at a discounted price (£10), just check my other resources! The PowerPoint introduces the median then gives two teacher led activities to guide students through finding the median. After each teacher led part, the students get a chance to try themselves, where they can ask questions or even work in pairs. After discovering what the median is and having a go with help, students are given an independent task to work out the median. Some of the answers involve finding the middle value between two given numbers, so not just putting the values in order! An answer sheet is provided for the teacher too, and all answers pop up on the PowerPoint itself! The lesson is reviewed by students feeding back at the bottom of their handout. Another FULL Micro:bit lesson. I actually used the spare devices supplied by the BBC to deliver this lesson for Year 6 induction recently. Equally ideal for year 7 or 8 ICT/Computing groups. The PowerPoint, handout and attached code get the students to program a decision maker on their Micro:bit device. So, when shook, the device provides a random answer to the question the student asks - quite fun! Everything needed, including extra challenges to stretch the top end or step by step support for lower ability groups. A review of the lesson objectives at the end is also included. This lesson introduces students to the different connections available for digital devices (wired and wireless connections). Students should mind map their own ideas first, before answers are revealed (click on the slide to reveal answers!). Students must then research OR use the support sheet to group advantages and disadvantages of each connection type. On the back page of the booklet is a review of the lesson where students must decide on the BEST method of connection; there are more answers, but the IDEAL answer is shown on the PowerPoint itself and students should be told this! FULL lesson on Business Communication Methods (no lesson plan, just worksheets in booklet). These are best used AFTER you’ve taught, or at least introduced, verbal/non-verbal communication and internal/external communication. I actually mark page 2 of the booklet as a test out of 20 to assess understanding of the topic. Space on the front for teacher assessment WWW and EBi. Starter - Identify the methods of communication from the images. Peer marked. Extension - think of more methods of communication Main - Questions (after teaching) on verbal/non-verbal and internal/external communication Main 2 - Give a suitable method of communication for Review (or second lesson) - rate methods of communication on speed, cost and whether receipt is confirmed. This PowerPoint contains eight generic starter activities suitable for upper KS2 to Post-16 teaching in ANY subject. I’ve also provided a set of teacher notes to accompany the resource which opens up the activities to a variety of adaptations which does mean the eight activities can be used over-and-over again, even with the same class! I’ve tried really hard to make sure the PowerPoint is well designed and engaging. The main aim was MINIMUM effort from the teacher, MAXIMUM gain - incorporating elements of literacy into ANY subject area. I’d love your feedback. Enjoy!

An eight page student booklet and accompanying outline of six lessons of work that gets students to create a PowerPoint presentation about either the Loch Ness Monster or Big Foot to include text, links, images and sounds. This is a fun, short unit of work suitable for Key Stage 3 ICT or Computing lessons. I must stress that, unlike some of my other resources, this is not a pick up and go, fully planned unit of work. It is an engaging student booklet that is GREAT for collating evidence of student work and it is a collection of six lesson OUTLINES. Teachers will need to add to this in order to fully teach reliability and skills in producing a multimedia presentation. I'd see this as a perfect first unit for either year 7 or 8 to get them started for a year of engaging ICT or Computing lessons. Enjoy! Any feedback is, as always, greatly received.

'Understanding Computers'; scheme of work and accompanying student booklet for Key Stage 3 Computer Science. Fully planned and resourced, print and go. The unit of work has been referenced against the new KS3 programme of study for Computing. The unit includes short topics on hardware, software, devices, input, output, storage, binary numbers, convergence and future technologies and is a good basis for an introduction to computers. This unit would ideally suit year 7 or 8 students and has elements of differentiation throughout to allow teachers to deliver the same unit of work to multiple ability groups (save on the planning!).
